The mattress is also hypoallergenic and is made to limit the growth of mold, bacteria and dust mites. One should consider that "hypoallergenic" is not a scientific classification however, but rather more of a marketing term. It simply means that the mattress will cause fewer allergic reactions than a non-hypoallergenic mattress. There is no body for "official" hypoallergenic certification.
In some corners – such as Costco – this kids mattress is marketed as the Simmons Kids Pampering Sleep Supreme 2-in1 mattress. Other marketing material often alludes to this as a Sleep-4-Years Mattress. These "descriptions" have to do with each side of the mattress providing a different level of firmness/support/comfort. According to Simmons, one side uses a firm foam that creates a supportive surface best for a baby, while the other side provides a good combination of support and comfort (presumably less firm) for the toddler. The idea behind the mattress is that you can simply turn the mattress over when your baby becomes a toddler.
The surface of this Simmons kids mattress is made with 100 percent vinyl and is thus wet resistant. It is also fairly easy to wipe clean. This mattress is said to meet or exceed all applicable safety standards – however it would be nice to see what these safety standards are but this information is not easily available.
