The Sealy Baby Ultra Rest Crib Mattress is a coil mattress and the coil count is 204. In general the more coils over a given area the better. The coils are robust as they are made from steel and are also heat tempered. They also use an interlocking pattern that helps the mattress keep its shape. Steel vertical support bars evenly distribute the baby’s weight, and the entire border of the mattress has rods to ensure edge firmness. This mattress fits toddler bed frames as well as cribs.

The Sealy Baby Ultra Rest comes with a non-allergenic protective wrap as well as a second non-allergenic plush layer for comfort. The mattress cover is reinforced laminate with a vinyl binding – it is tear-resistant and limits stains, mildew and odors. The cover is treated with Staph-Gard which provides an anti-static and antibacterial surface (although a lot of people indicate that the best approach to limit bacteria is simply to clean the mattress with a disinfectant wipe). The Sealy Baby Ultra Rest can be wiped clean using just a damp cloth.

The mattress is phthalate-free and flammability compliant (it meets Federal Flammability Standard 16 CFR 1633), and it does not use toxic fire retardants. It is made in the USA (both components and assembly). There is also an airflow pocket at the bottom of the mattress that helps keep the mattress fresh.

This mattress has dimensions 51.63" L x 27.25" W x 5.5”H – there are a number of comments from consumers that it did not fit their crib/bed-frame so it would make sense to do some careful measuring first. It also carries a lengthy 15-year warranty on workmanship and materials.
