RV Mattresses
- Details

Stock RV mattresses are often poor quality and as a result many RV owners choose to upgrade to an aftermarket, higher quality unit. There are a number of mattresses specially designed for RVs on the marketplace and we have compiled a list of 4 best-sellers. These mattresses all get great ratings from owners. You will want to check these out if you are looking to improve the quality of your rest while on the road.
Although folks may be tempted to use a household mattress in an RV, they often don't fit well. Household mattresses tend to be too long. RV mattresses are designed for the limited space inside an RV and are usually shorter - for example a regular Queen size mattress is 60 × 80 inches but an RV Queen is 60 x 75 inches.
If you are going to replace your RV mattress you want to ensure that the one you get is comfortable, supportive and reasonably priced. The following mattresses fit these criteria:
1 - DynastyMattress Deluxe 10-Inch Memory Foam Mattress
This mattress is designed for recreational vehicles and campers. It gets great reviews and ratings from owners and the 10 inch Queen averages 4.7 stars out of 5 (6 customer reviews). Folks indicate that the mattress fits well into their camper/rv and that it is very comfortable and reasonably priced. In addition, it is delivered rolled up and is therefore compact and easy to move.
Like most memory foam mattresses this DynastyMattress gives off a slight odor when unpacked but consumers indicate that it does dissipate quickly. Also, the mattress is quite heavy (the Queen 10 inch is about 65 lbs) which can be both a drawback and an asset.
It is available in two thicknesses, 10 inches and 12 inches. The 10 inch thick mattresses can be found in the following sizes:
- Short QUEEN Size: 60" x 75"
- Short FULL Size: 48" x 75"
- Short TWIN Size: 34" x 75"
The 12 inch thick mattresses come in the following sizes:
- Short FULL Size: 48" x 75"
- Short QUEEN Size: 60" x 75"
- Short KING Size: 72" x 80"
The 10 inch mattress is comprised of 3 inches of memory foam and 7 inches of polyurethane base foam. The 12 inch mattress uses 5 inches of memory foam and 7 inches of polyurethane base foam. The mattresses also have a convoluted airflow system to help them sleep cool. In addition, a zippered, washable cover is included.
Prices range from about $300 for the Twin 10 inch to $650 for the King 12 inch.
We have investigated mattresses by DynastyMattress before and they are often well received by consumers. The brand appears to have become popular as the cheaper alternative to the well known Tempur-Pedic. The mattresses are also often modeled after a specific Tempur-Pedic mattress – this one is modeled after the Tempur-Pedic Deluxebed. The company markets itself as a retailer of high-quality, low-cost memory foam orthopedic mattresses.
2 - Paramount PSR6074 Premium Pillowtop Mattress
This is another popular RV mattress. Consumers have rated this unit 4.7 stars out of 5 (36 ratings on Amazon). It has dimensions 8” X 60" X 74" and, unlike the Dynasty Mattress highlighted above, it is an innerspring mattress (essentially has a sheet of metal springs covered by padding). It is a pillowtop mattress and may be a good alternative for those who don’t like memory foam.
This RV mattress is priced at just over $400 and owners report the following likes and dislikes:
Likes:
- Almost all owners report it is an improvement over their old mattress
- Comfortable
- Perfect fit in an RV (most people state this)
- Many say it is as comfortable as their home mattress
Dislikes:
- Some find it a little too firm
- Requires some airing out before using
The Paramount PSR6074 can be found in a wide range of sizes.
- 34” x 74”
- 38” x 74”
- 49” x 74”
- 53” x 74”
- 60” x 74”
- 53” x 79”
- 60” x 79”
All of the above sizes only come in 8 inches thick.
3 - The Serenia Sleep RV Mattress
This mattress gets great scores but ratings are unfortunately few. This is a foam mattress and it is made in the USA. It is flippable and has a white damask cover. Like many foam mattresses it is delivered vacuum packed and in a roll. The Serenia Sleep mattress is quite reasonably priced at about $225 and is only available in a 6 inch thickness. Sizes include:
Twin – 75” x 38”
Full – 75” x 54”
Queen – 80” x 60”
Short Full – 75” x 48”
Short Queen – 75” x 60”
These mattresses are not too heavy and the Queen, for example, is about 36 lbs.
4 - The RV Memory Foam Mattress by Parklane Mattresses
At $700 this is a little pricier than the other options but consumer ratings are very good - you may wish to view them here. This mattress also uses AERUS memory foam. AERUS memory foam has a larger cell structure than traditional memory foam and is thus able to cool more effectively.
The mattress appears to only be available in a Short Queen with dimensions 8 x 60 x 74 inches. It also carries a 10-year warranty. Like many memory foam mattresses this unit is delivered compressed and in a roll.
