The Natural Mat Company manufactures their mattresses in Devon England but their products are also widely sold in the USA. Part of the company’s marketing efforts include highlighting that their products are bought by the likes of Halle Berry and Gwyneth Paltrow. Natural Mat mattresses are handmade using sustainable natural and organic materials. They are also non-allergenic and comfortable. Owners give these crib mattresses high praise and about the only area of “concern” is the significant cost.

The Naturepedic Quilted Deluxe Organic Cotton Crib Mattress is a luxurious innerspring baby mattress that uses 252 heavy duty coils. The mattress is fire safe, fairly firm (for support) and does not use any wool or latex which can sometimes cause allergic reactions. It also doesn’t use any vinyl/PVC or polyurethane foam which can release chemicals over time. The organic cotton used is unbleached and grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, GMOs, or chemical fertilizers. The mattress is not waterproof however but an optional waterproof mattress pad that will protect the mattress from getting wet is available (and recommended). [REF Crib Mattress Reviews 2011]

The Sealy Tender Vibes Soothing Mattress is an interesting idea that appears to have been implemented well. This crib mattress has a vibration feature that gradually turns itself off over about a 15 minute time interval. Parents like the fact that the mattress is firm yet still comfortable, and that it is sturdy and lightweight. Some folks like the plastic film on the mattress that makes it waterproof and easy to wipe clean but others feel that it reduces the ability of the mattress to breath. [REF Crib Mattress Reviews]

Crib mattresses are of great interest to parents and parents-to-be today because the days when a mother or father could walk into a store and purchase any crib mattress are gone. As a result of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), there have been many health and safety guidelines associated to these mattresses, and parents are far pickier about the mattress that their little one sleeps on. Fortunately this has brought more choice to the marketplace than ever before, but you now have to do your due diligence before heading out to buy a crib mattress. [REF Crib Mattress Reviews 2010]
