Several of the big companies like Sealy and Simmons have mattresses that use memory foam. The Simmons Beautyrest NXG for example combines pocketed coils with advanced memory foam and the Sealy Embody uses a combination of latex and memory foam. And, of course, Tempur-Pedic manufactures many memory foam mattresses. But all these mattresses have one thing in common – they are rather expensive.
Enter the affordable memory foam mattress companies. These groups manufacture a wide range of very popular and affordable mattresses. To date we have reviewed Dynasty Mattress, Sleep Innovations and Sarah Peyton. This review focuses on Best Price Mattress, yet another company manufacturing affordable memory foam mattresses that are getting good grades from consumers.
The company has three outlets in the SF Bay area (locations and contact info can be found here) but they also sell several of their memory foam mattresses through Amazon. On Amazon the company has a solid record with a customer rating of 4.7 stars out 5 from over 200 buyers in the past 12 months.
The most popular Best Price Mattress on Amazon is the 8 inch memory foam mattress. These mattresses sell for under $300 and are getting good reviews and ratings from owners. Many owners have indicated that their aches and pains have been significantly reduced after sleeping on the mattress. Additional consumer likes and dislikes are highlighted below:
- Very comfortable (firm but still comfortable)
- Reduces pressure on joints
- Doesn’t get too hot
- Not too expensive
- There is an odor for a few days after unpacking
- Takes ½ a day or more to expand to its full size
The 8 inch memory foam mattress by Best Price Mattress uses three different types of foam. The top layer is 2 inches of memory foam followed by 2 inches of super soft foam. This sits on a base 4 inch layer of supportive foam. The mattress is protected by a poly-jacquard fabric cover and it carries a 10 year warranty.
This particular mattress gets the following ratings on Amazon:
|Amazon||4.6 stars out of 5||11|
Other popular mattresses include a 12 inch memory foam mattress and a 6 inch memory foam mattress. These have garnered the following ratings:
|Amazon (12 inch)||4.5 stars out of 5||4|
|Amazon (6 inch)||4.6 stars out of 5||13|
The 12 inch mattress ensures limited heat build-up via a breathable and ventilated top layer of memory foam. This is followed by a layer of super soft foam, and finally a thick layer of supportive and durable high density foam. The mattress cover is poly jacquard and bamboo rayon fabric, and this 12 inch mattress carries a 15 year warranty. It is also substantially more costly than the 8 inch mattress. The Best Price Mattress website has a rundown of their limited warranty and it is worth a look if you are considering a purchase.
The 6 inch mattress is similar to the 8 inch but the top layer is only 1 inch of memory foam (as opposed to 2) and the base layer of foam is only 3 inches thick (as opposed to 4). It also comes with the poly-jacquard cover and a 10 year warranty.
The memory foam mattresses are vacuum packed for shipping and when unpacked they expand to their full size. Expansion to full size can take up to 48 hours but most folks indicate it takes much less time than that (a day or less).
